Looking Back at the USYS Midwest Regionals and Presidents Cup
Congratulations to our KHA1 Cincinnati North G07 on advancing to the USYS Midwest Regionals this month! On day one, the girls fought hard against their first opponent AFA Fillies, putting one goal on the scoreboard but leaving with a tie. The next day, the ladies kicked it up a notch, scoring 4 goals and securing the dub against ZYSA. On the final day, they didn’t hold back! The girls put 3 goals on opponent Chicago FC United and shut them out from scoring. They gave fantastic performances all weekend, and just barely missed out on advancing to the next round. We are beyond proud of the way you played and represented your club, girls!

We want to give another shout out to our KHA1 Cincinnati North G08 team on their stellar performance in this years’ Presidents Cup series! These ladies fought their way into the Midwest Presidents Cup, going 2-1-0 for the weekend and making it to the semi-finals round. The girls didn’t give up any goals during the 90 minutes of the semi-finals match against FC Stars, and the match had to be settled in PKs. Congratulations on all of your hard work this season, ladies! What an awesome achievement.

June Education: Continuing Development Over The Summer
Summertime means the days are longer, the weather is warmer, and the skies are typically brighter. But for many youth athletes it can also mean a loss of structure to our days; no school, no practices, no formal games, and a loss of some of the development gains made throughout the past season. However, with some simple planning and the right focus, athletes and their families can make great use of the summer weeks to maintain, or even improve themselves and be prepared for the next season.
Here are three key areas young athletes can work on this summer:
- FOCUS ON SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT
- IMPROVE OVERALL ATHLETICISM
- INCREASE SOCCER AWARENESS
Focus on Specific Individual Development
The summer off season can be the perfect opportunity to spend time focusing on your own individual development by working on specific aspects of your play. We would encourage each player to reflect on two technical aspects of their play that are strengths and two areas that they wish they were stronger at.
