US Club Soccer National Premier League Debut

A wet welcome party to the US Club Soccer National Premier League. None the less, our boys put in a great shift against One Knox! Proud of everyone for their hard work so far this fall.

Congratulations Blake Cox, GK Union August Save of the Month

Congratulations to Blake Cox, KHP1 B15, who was awarded the Kings Hammer GK Union August Save of the Month.

Each month goalkeepers from across the club have the opportunity to submit their best saves from their Kings Hammer matches on our GK Union facebook page. At the end of each month, our National Director of Goalkeeping, Lou Liberatore, will select 2 participants, one boy and one girl, as the Kings Hammer GK Union Save of the Month winners.

Goalkeepers who want to participate need to:

  1. Join the Kings Hammer GK Union Facebook page.
  2. Upload their save videos with details like their name, team name, and location of the save.

KHM Players Walk Out with Nashville Soccer Club

Showcasing our club values on the pitch comes with some cool rewards! Congratulations to Harper A., Avery, Elliott, Harper C., Beckett and Audrey for being selected to walk out with Nashville Soccer Club. Our six players were chosen by showing good sportsmanship and a positive attitude within our club. Congrats all!

September Education: The ‘Laws’ of the Game

One of the leading causes of stress, confusion, anger, and angst during soccer games (youth through professional) is the misunderstanding, misapplication, and misconceptions around the rules of the game.

Here are five of the leading problem-causing culprits when it comes to “Laws” in soccer:

1. Offside (note – not offsides)

The “interpretation” of offside is worthy of an entire book, but a majority of the debate takes place around interpreting two components: the positioning of the offending player at the time the ball was played and if the alleged offending player was “actively involved” in the play.

Being “actively involved” generally refers to 3 possibilities; receiving the ball, engaging the defender as they receive the ball, or actively interfering with the goalkeeper’s ability to make a play on a shot ball.  The first is fairly obvious, the second two can be a little more subjective and open to interpretation by the official. If player in an offside position stops their run, then other players coming from onside positions are able to pursue the ball without a call being made.
