September Meet the Coaches
Meet Coach Jake Molony (KHP1 SC G13)
Coach Jake is Lakeland native and former player for Lakeland Christian School where he earned player of the year in 2014. He continued his soccer career at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee for 4 years. Upon finishing college, he returned to Lakeland and has been coaching for 5 years now. He is currently the Girls Head coach at George Jenkins High School and has been since 2021. This year as he coaches our U12 girls his goal is to make sure the girls are technical; fundamentals are his first priority.
A little fun fact: As a kid, Jake was a ball boy for FSC players Eoghan (our General Manager) and Ryan Wolfe (our COE Director), and Ryan even coached him during his youth days!
Meet Coach Jorge Ramirez (KHJR1 SC G16 & KHP1 SC G14)
Coach Jorge is originally from Venezuela and how resided in Florida for the last 15 years. He began playing soccer at a very young age after realizing baseball wasn’t the right sport for him. He started coaching soccer at the grassroots level 5 years ago and decided 2 years ago that he wanted to dedicate more time to coaching and take it to the next level. This will be his 2nd season with KH Swan City and as he coaches our U9 and U11 girls he is looking forward to continuing to have the opportunity to help the girls fall in love with the game while they develop their skills on and off the field. He wants to ensure these players receive the best tools to set them up for success in the future.

September Education: The ‘Laws’ of the Game
One of the leading causes of stress, confusion, anger, and angst during soccer games (youth through professional) is the misunderstanding, misapplication, and misconceptions around the rules of the game.
Here are five of the leading problem-causing culprits when it comes to “Laws” in soccer:
1. Offside (note – not offsides)
The “interpretation” of offside is worthy of an entire book, but a majority of the debate takes place around interpreting two components: the positioning of the offending player at the time the ball was played and if the alleged offending player was “actively involved” in the play.
Being “actively involved” generally refers to 3 possibilities; receiving the ball, engaging the defender as they receive the ball, or actively interfering with the goalkeeper’s ability to make a play on a shot ball. The first is fairly obvious, the second two can be a little more subjective and open to interpretation by the official. If player in an offside position stops their run, then other players coming fro
