March Events Series Wraps Up

It’s been a busy March here at Kings Hammer! This past month, we held our Elite Spring Thaw tournament, Boys Turf Classic and Girls Turf Classic. This year at Elite Spring Thaw, we hosted over 290 teams and 491 games over the 3-day event with teams participating from West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Our Boys Turf Classic hosted 261 teams and 435 games, and our Girls Turf Classic hosted over 159 teams and 269 games, both over a 3-day event. That’s over 1000 games played in Kings Hammer Cincinnati/NKY tournaments this month! We also had several teams travel to Panama City Beach, FL early this month to take part in Defender’s Cup at Publix Sports Park.

We want to give a huge “Thank You” to all of the teams, coaches, volunteers and staff that participated in this month’s events. And congratulations to all of our finalist and champions!

Kings Hammer Healthy Habits: Episode 5

The fifth episode of Kings Hammer Healthy Habits presented by OrthoCincy is now available! In this episode, Dr. Amelia Wiggins of OrthoCincy discusses what athletes can do to prepare for playing in various weather conditions.

A: Layered clothing, proper warm-up routines, and maintaining core body temperature are essential in cold weather. Players should focus on dynamic stretches and ensure adequate nutrition to sustain energy level throughout a match or training session.       

Q2: How should soccer players prepare for playing in hot weather, and what are the key considerations for avoiding heat-related issues?

A: Players should hydrate well before, during, and after matches in hot weather. Additionally, players should wear appropriate breathable clothing and take regular breaks.

KINGS HAMMER PARTICIPATES IN PLAYER WALKOUTS during FCC v CF Monterey Match

Kings Hammer was honored to participate in team walkouts for the FC Cincinnati v CF Monterey Match that saw former FCC player Brandon Vazquez return to TQL Stadium for the first time since his transfer! Thank you for having us, FC Cincinnati!

March Education: Let Them Play and Enjoy the Game

The idea for this month’s topic began with observations from attending some recent league and tournament games. It was then enhanced by a social media post I saw about letting the kids enjoy themselves in the game, giving the game back to them.

As I began to research the topic and put together an outline, I came across more and more posts that captured the spirit of what I thought were foundational pieces of our role as parents and supporters of the young athletes playing within our club. Maybe the words had already been written for me! I hope these words resonate with each of you as well.

Child’s Experience – Remember that this athletic journey is your child’s, not yours. Allow them to OWN their successes AND failures. Support them without dictating their path.
