Staff Spotlight: Coach Marek Betkowski

Coach Marek Betkowski is a full-time professional coach with over 39 years of experience. Originally from Poland, he began his career as a player before transitioning into coaching in 1986 while still competing. He holds a master’s degree in Physical Education with a Soccer Specialty and has coached youth teams in both Poland and the United States.
Coach Betkowski holds a USSF B and C License, FYSA D License, and NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma. In 2003, he was named Florida Youth Soccer Association’s Coach of the Year.
Since joining the club in 1996 while still Bay United Soccer Club, his teams have reached 356 tournament finals, winning 228 championships. Under his leadership, KHBU teams have claimed 18 FYSA Region D titles and multiple FYSA President’s Cup Championships (2003, 2004, 2007, 2008) and finalist honors (2010, 2011, 2012, 2016). In 2004, his BUSC U15 Girls won the USSF Region III Cup and advanced to the U.S. Final Four. Most recently, he led the U12 Girls to the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup title.
Coach Betkowski currently serves as Grassroots Director at Kings Hammer Bay United and is the head coach of the 2011 Girls and 2014 Boys teams.
In addition to club coaching, he led Mosley High School’s Boys Varsity team from 1998–2010, winning 11 Bay County Championships. Since 2010, he has coached the Mosley Girls Varsity team, earning 15 Bay County Championships, Regional Finalist appearances (2011, 2014, 2015), and 11 District titles between 2012 and 2023.
