Important Update on Player Registration Changes from U.S. Soccer

As you may recall from our December communication, we informed you about potential changes to player registration. We can now share definitive information that will impact our club beginning in the 2026-2027 season.

The three largest youth soccer governing bodies in the United States—US Youth Soccer (USYS), US Club Soccer, and the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO)—jointly announced their decision to adopt a seasonal year age group formation cycle starting with the 2026-2027 season. This new cycle will run from September 1 to August 31, aligning with the academic calendar to allow players to participate alongside their classmates and school friends.

What This Means for Kings Hammer Players

  • Enhanced player experience: This change creates more opportunities for players to enjoy soccer with their school peers.
  • No immediate changes: The current registration system will remain in place for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
  • Implementation timeline: The new registration parameters will take effect in August 2026.
  • Flexibility preserved: Players born after September 1 will maintain the opportunity to play up with older age groups in accordance with our club’s player-centric approach.

Our leadership team is actively preparing for this transition and has established a dedicated implementation plan to ensure a seamless experience for all Kings Hammer athletes and families. We will provide regular updates throughout the coming year.
